Customer Review: All the essentials
This is a very nice kit to start off with. The included screwdrivers and ratchet kit cover the common sizes found inside a PC, although bizarrely they’ve included more Torx bits than anything else. Picking up extra bits for the driver should be a piece of cake, though. The magnetic attachment for the ratchet is a godsend, frankly. The pliers and tweezers make light work of those fiddly motherboard headers and the wire trimmers may well come in handy. By far the best thing in the kit is the odd little three-prong grippy widget, which proves itself to be much better than pliers or tweezers at fishing small objects out of odd places.

My only real problems with the pack are the IC remover (beginners shouldn’t need one an experts know they shouldn’t use them) and the torch. I was hoping for a cheap-and-cheerful LED flashlight but instead there’s a translucent purple incandescent torch which looks like it came from a christmas cracker. I’ve got an LED light handy anyway, but a little bit of consideration would’ve rounded out the kit nicely.

I bought one of these when I was to have a go at building a PC but it has become indispensable around the house for all sorts of jobs - at this price you won’t regret it!

For instance if your phone was left in the back of a cab or stolen from your table would you know any of your friends numbers. Ill bet that you dont mainly because I know for a fact that I dont. I have enough trouble remembering my own numberWhile the Sim Bank cant guarantee the location of your phone what it can do is make life a bit easier when something bad does happen. Storing the contents of your simcard you can also use it to duplicate data between phones and even enter additional information. Customer Review: An excellent well presented DIY book for the beginner
Having just bought my first house I knew that the time was going to come when i needed a DIY book. I saw this book purely by mistake through a work book club and was instantly impressed with how laid out it was. It seemed to cover everything around the home from strucutre of the modern house to building walls, floors, repairing wood, painting, fitting and even how to make your house more energy and heat efficient. Well for me this answered everything I was looking for, well sized pictures and good descriptions to help me (someone with very basic DIY knowledge). It seemed like the book was showing trade secrets that you could do yourself instead of paying someone ???? to do. (dependant on how well you pull it off) One thing that did amuse me in all the book covered was even how to replace cupboard handles, so it really is written for beginner upwards and goes into quite extensive projects that I perhaps would not try at my level of experience, eg building a new ceiling. But who knows, start off small and work up. Well worth the purchase.

I bought this book for my husband who wanted some advice on basic DIY skills in the garden, like fencing and path-laying etc. This book, like others in the series, is well-written, easy to follow and clearly illustrated. It is an absolutely ideal book for anyone starting out in laying out or tidying up the garden. It gives sensible advice and produces professional results without being in the least bit patronising, at the same time it doesn't waste time showing unrealistic projects that the average gardener would be hard pressed to fit into anything smaller than a public gardens. A really good book, essential starter, but still not too basic for more advanced skills.

Customer Review: How to do everything … in two paragraphs
There is no denying the scope of this book is, to say the least, comprehensive. It covers almost every topic imaginable in DIY from dry lining your basement to capping the chimney and covers it at every range whether you just want to change a fuse or rewire the entire building. That scope though is both its virtue and its problem. Yes I can pick this up and be fairly confident that it will tell me how to go about building a stud wall but I know that it is also likely to be something of an overview of the subject rattled off in a few paragraphs. Often that is enough. There are a lot of jobs where a grasp of the basics and a willingness to have a go are good enough and if I’m laying new paving slabs I’ll read this and go for it. Alternatively there are some jobs where I’d like a little more expertise than this can provide. Yes this book will tell me how to change the main fuse box but I’m not going to do that when it means working on the live side of a 100 amp line! In those cases though at least it lets me know roughly how difficult the job is so that I don’t sound like a complete numpty when I call an electrician and ask if they could replace the ‘thingummy by the front door with the fuses in it’. I’d say to anyone that they should buy this book even if you don’t ever intend to do the DIY yourself. If you do the DIY this is a good first reference to find out what to do. If it’s not comprehensive enough then it will give enough of an overview that you will know what to look for when searching for more detail and if you do get someone else to do the job you’ve a better chance of knowing if they’re doing the right thing.

Customer Review: Beware this CD out dated and now repackaged
I discover that this CD old CD was once called Romany Growing Plants and has now been re-packaged. Read the review in the March issue of Computer Active you'll see it says Romany Growing Plants is also available as Your Garden Encyclopedia from Focus. This program starts to wilt under close scutiny. First of all, the interface feels incredibly dated, and although the cover claims that the program is 'interactive' it can hardly carry this clain by modern standards. Quite what the use is of features such as a 10,000-yeal diary, address book and calculator escapes us, and while some ground is made up in the program's broad coverage of plant types and characteristics, there is a consistant lack of depth to the information. altogether this package falls short for anyone seeking real practical help in the garden, and at no pointdoes it feel like a product that has been designed with the UK gardener in mind.

This CD does not live up to expectations, I thought from the description that it it had a vast range of plants and information but it turned out to lack many of my garden plants. My overall impression was it is of inferior quality. It was not expensive and so has my two star rating.

I’ve just moved into a house needing some TLC and bought this book, along with some others, to give me guidance on DIY. I’m not a complete novice, having put up a shelf or two in my time, but was looking for reassurance that I was going about things the right way. I found this book the most useful of the selection I bought. It talks you through a job, step by step, and gives you lots of advice, tips and tricks along the way. It covers every subject area, has far more information in it than the glossy colour books I bought, and explains everything clearly, without being patronising. It’s, in fact, quite an entertaining read! I recommend this to anyone about to start a DIY job.
