Customer Review: More powerful than the average
I really have noticed that duracell 9 volt batteries last longer and provide more of a shock to my tounge than most 9 volt batteries. They are also hardwearing, not that this is particularly important for a battery, but there are some cheap ones that break basically from falling on the floor! These batteries managed to power a range of electrical appliances in my house, and that is all I`m asking of them. Let`s face it: batteries are basic, and with these ones perfection is almost there. The only reason I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 was because they are not rechargable - simple as that. Mind you, I wouldn`t spent too much effort trying to buy these online - most good convenience stores stock these, and deffinatley all hardwear shops, so if I were you, I would just get out there and get them by hand.
Customer Review: Brilliant
Duracell produced these to provide power to certain electrical goods. They provide power to certain electrical goods. Basically, you can’t expect much more from a battery

House Doctor: How to Add Pounds to the Value of Your Home
Ignore Ann Maurice’s impersonation of American Psycho on the front cover, the contents of House Doctor really aren’t anything to be nervous of. This book accompanies the popular Channel 5 series featuring the very straight-talking Californian property stylist. Her mission: to make simple, inexpensive changes to the presentation of your home to increase its value and your chances of selling it. Like the show, the emphasis here is not on striking or dramatic makeovers in the Changing Rooms style. You aren’t meant to like the designs, they should be subtle, almost a neutral canvas so the people visiting your house can imagine themselves living there. As Ann continually reiterates, the biggest mistake sellers make is in assuming that because they love their home, a prospective buyer will feel the same. None of the designs will excite but all have proven to be, in a bland kind of way, the ideal way to add value to your home and ensure it appeals to the majority of people entering your front door.

Ann’s advice is mostly good common sense but as some of these “pre-makeover” photographs show; common sense is a rare quality amongst homeowners. This is where her tasteful intervention is required. Seven chapters take you through the houses with before and after shots of exteriors, entrances, reception rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms and gardens. Anyone who’s seen the show will recognise much, if not all, of what they see here. The same remedies are repeated throughout; clean furiously, fix anything broken, hide anything ugly and make rooms as light and airy as possible–people want space, not to see a lifetime accumulation of worldly possessions. Remembering to remove traces of everyday chores–washing up, ironing board, etc, and avoid over personalisation. These cures sound and look all too easy but remarkably seem to work every time.

All in all, a cheap and cheery read, but if you are trying to sell your house you could do a lot worse than follow this doctor’s orders. –Rachel O’Connor

Customer Review: As seen on TV, exactly! Nothing new in here.
If you’ve seen the TV programme, you’ve seen it all, there’s nothing new in this book, and, just as on TV, the book doesn’t tell you what paints have been used for a particular situation, or ‘how to create the effect’. Although I enjoyed reading the book, (which took me all of one evening), I would have preferred more in-depth information on subjects such as “what to do and what not to do” when it comes to finishing touches etc. Only worth buying if you haven’t seen the programme!
Customer Review: No nonsense, brimming with ideas and solutions
This is such a good book, very well illustrated and information packed. Well worth the money, even if you aren’t selling your home! My only criticism is, I WANT MORE!

DIY Home Center Industry in Japan: A Strategic Entry Report, 1998
The primary audience for this report is managers involved with the highest levels of the strategic planning process, and consultants who help their clients with this task. The user will not only benefit from the hundreds of hours that went into the methodology and its application, but also from its alternative perspective on strategic planning in Japan.

This report helps executives evaluate strategic investment and entry alternatives in Japan. In order to evaluate Japan, Icon Group International, Inc. draws on a methodology developed by Professor Philip Parker at INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France. The methodology decomposes a country’s strategic potential along two key dimensions: (1) latent demand, and (2) accessibility. A country may have very high latent demand, yet have low accessibility, making it a less attractive market than many smaller potential countries having higher levels of accessibility.

This report provides a strategic profile of Japan along these lines. Throughout the discussion, literally hundreds of statistics on Japan are benchmarked against regional and global averages. The reader can thus quickly understand where Japan fits into the regional and global perspective. The report first investigates the economic fundamentals affecting Japan. These fundamentals are the source for Japan’s latent demand. Then, the subsequent chapters detail Japan’s accessibility. This evaluation covers a number of entry alternatives, including export strategies, and local direct investment strategies. If a firm decides to have a local presence in Japan, this requires a strategic understanding of local business conditions. The conditions investigated in this report include local marketing (advertising, distribution, pricing issues) and entry strategies (opening an office, joint venturing, etc.), as well as human resources management (labor laws, costs, regulations). Because local presence can increase…

As Meditation Tools–Forest begins, you may think they’ve repackaged Meditation Tools–Sky into a forest by adding a few trees. Featuring the best soundtrack in this series of meditation tools, this journey develops from clouds and the tops of trees, to a deeper forest, to denser foliage, accompanied by intriguing sounds of birds. But whether it’s likely to enhance one’s meditation is debateable.

Unfortunately there isn’t enough to make this so compelling that you wouldn’t stop the video to answer the telephone, get up to make a cup of tea, or go and load the washing machine. If your intention is to learn how to relax this could be beneficial as it will inspire you to go for a walk to the park to be with some real trees instead of staring at them on a TV screen for 45 minutes.

Encouraging meditation–the practice of emptying the mind–through a video format requires a strong focus to keep the viewer hooked and meandering through trees just isn’t enough. –Lorna V

Tool Sharpening For Results [2002]

Tool Sharpening For Results [2002]

-

The epic scope of Tool’s excellent third album, Lateralus, could well spell a whole new era for metal. To many casual rock fans, frontman Maynard James Keenan is probably better known as the vocalist in the more MTV-friendly A Perfect Circle but it’s indisputably Keenan’s main group–art-metal pioneers Tool–that have reshaped the rock landscape most radically. Operating somewhere beyond the parameters of their closest peers Metallica and Jane’s Addiction, Tool is the sound of metal at its most sprawling, complex, ambitious and progressive. But while the group’s third album–the long-awaited Lateralus–deals with subjects as obtuse at the return of Saturn’s orbit and Keenan’s fascination with the occult works of Aleister Crowley, this is not simply the sound of pompous prog-rock given a Millennial makeover. Why? Mainly because Tool never let the concept swallow the sheer, gigantic scope of this music–from the brooding, dark instrumental passages and explosive rhythmic tension of the eight-minute opener “The Grudge” to the precise, angular mathematic construction of “Schism”. It’s true, Lateralus might be a bit much for the pogo-friendly Blink 182 fan in your life but if there’s any justice in the world, this fantastic work will do for metal what Radiohead’s OK Computer did for indie-rock. The boundaries have fallen and Tool have new horizons in sight. –Louis Pattison

Customer Review: Another amazing Tool release
When I bought Lateralus i had incredibly high expectations for I owned all the other Tool albums and loved every single one of them. Unlike 10,000 days, Undertow and Aenima Lateralus didn’t grab me instantly and i had to listen to it once or twice before i really got into it. Lateralus is a very progressive and complex album so you can expect plenty of time signiature changes and lengthy songs. My favourite songs off the album are the epic Lateralus itself, the combine Parabol-Parabola song(s) and then probably the Grudge but every song on the album is at least very good if not amazing. I would definatley recommend this album to anyone who is capable of appreciating it. 9/10

This ablum is quite possibly the greatest album ever written, in fact no scratch that it is the best. Customer Review: Realistic curtains
I thoroughly endorse the previous lady’s comments. I agree about the usual curtains. I found this book instructive and easy to follow. You will find the results impressive and want to make more.
Customer Review: Curtaining - the perfect finishing touch
Making dolls house curtains is notoriously difficult if you want them to look natural. This book shows how to create fantastic curtains in a variety of styles to suit many periods. It gives really clear and concise instructions for every aspect from the materials needed to making up the individual curtains. Each step is outlined clearly and is easy to follow, with good explainatory photographs. In the book there are pages of patterns that you can photocopy and use as templates making life even easier. Curtains available include roller blinds, simple hangings, swags and tails, cafe nets and a whole host more. Following the instructions I have managed to completely curtain my house and make some curtains to sell - which they have done and my customers have been more than happy with them. I like this book so much I am currently in the process of purchasing the whole set of Dolls House Do It Yourself titles.

Customer Review: Another Great book for Americans !!!
This is a great book if you are looking for inspiration and ideas to work from. If however you are a poor Brit like me who likes the idea of a conventional build with bricks and mortar, the plans which are available for purchase in this book will be completely useless, unless of course you want a timber framed house or are an American builder !!! Great ideas, sadly could not be used for the purpose of its intension in the British market - so Brits who want plans beware !!!! Other than that great layout and informative !!!!
Customer Review: Big Plans, Small plans, All Plans
For anyone planning on building or designing their own home, this books is great, full of American designs. Its gives you all types of ideas from 1000sqfoot plans to 6000 sq foot. And is handily broken down in regions. This is a great book its well worth purchasing, believe me all you friends will want to borrow it.

Our house was so disorganised, knocking over papers wherever you turned! I was getting so fed up with my parents not doing anything as they were always so tired from work. However, Thanks to this book, with its simple step by step guide, we’ve managed to regain control of our house bit by bit and make best use of the space we live in. We still have things to improve but our family now has more time for each other and are less stressed out.I really never knew it could be so simple!

Customer Review: Where it all began
Its hard to believe the band that composed Lateralus wrote this isnt it?!

This is mostly an intelligent old skool metal album, but with a unique Tool twist. The live recordings are amazing quality.

This is an angry, angst ridden EP, and well worth the money, even if its only 6 songs. It is an awesome foundation for things to come.

And it contains songs that rank among Tools very best: Cold and Ugly, Hush

Customer Review: This is REAL Timber-Frame!
This is easily the best book I’ve seen on timber frame construction, an endangered craft in the UK. The book goes though every stage of construction of modern American timber frame, illustrated beautifully by many photos and clean line drawings. You wont find anything medieval and you wont find much of a history, but aside from that the book is flawless. I’d pay double the price without hesitation!
Customer Review: A timbesaurus

Customer Review: Worth Reading
I really enjoy reading this book. It can be quite uplifiting to just read through from time to time. This books tells us how we can make the small and everyday moments of our life into something special. This really does have some very good ideas in it. This is a very beautifully illustrated and well presented book. Discover how you can transform the most mundane tasks into a pleasurable experience! ~ Claire Elise Archibald.
Customer Review: I want to loathe it but I can’t.
I love nothing better than to scorn this type of book–the “the-whole-world-will-be-better-if-you-just-have-a-bubble-bath” world of Martha Stewart and Alexandra Stoddard. However, I have to confess, when I’m having a bad day, it IS soothing to read through this book and just believe that, were I to have a lemon squeezer placed just so on my kitchen counter with fresh lemons next to it, all would be right with the world. I can dream, can’t I?

Customer Review: Professional techniques revealed to the serious DIY enthusiast
A very informative bk with good photos and advice. Yes there are ‘Americanisms’ in it but the whole English-speaking world does not speak only British English, right! I’ve learnt a lot from this book and I would recommend it to anybody wanting to learn about tiling techniques in a variety of settings. Some of the projects though are based on American construction techniques that differ from the Uk
Customer Review: Tiling (For Pros, by Pros)
This book although good is very US based. Its product info., terminology and stockists suggestions all have a US twinge to them. I am sure the basic tiling procedures are the same in the UK as they are in the US but the Americanisms sometimes do not transfer the POND in the same way!
