Joomla! A User’s Guide: Building a Successful Joomla! Powered Website
Customer Review: Moving from Joomla 1.0 to 1.5
I came to this book having previously implemented a Joomla 1.0 site, wanting to know what Joomla 1.5 has to offer. The depth of Barrie North’s knowledge is impressive and his explanations are very clear. I found myself focussing on chapters 9 and beyond, covering templates and examples of practical site implementation, dipping back into previous chapters for reference detail. The book was written before the Joomla 1.0 to 1.5 migration process was finalised, so it doesn’t cover practical migration steps. However, this topic is well documented on the Joomla site.

Some advanced subjects are well covered, such as Google Adwords conversion, going beyond other books I have read. The book does a good job of explaining Joomla to the new user and clarifying topics for the more experienced user.

I thoroughly recommend the book.

Customer Review: I can see Joomla! clearly now …..
I’m planning to build my first website. Content is King. I’ve done the due diligence bit, and decided that Joomla! is the one for me, but it seemed so complex.

Well that’s no longer the case; Barrie Norman has produced an excellent guide to the brand new 1.5 version of Joomla! and having read it I feel entirely confident that I’ll soon have a site up and running.

The book is very well produced, excellent quality, seems to cover all that you’ll need to know and is well laid out. It’s well written in that time-proven style; tell ‘em what you’re gonna tell ‘em; tell them; tell them what you’ve told them. The order of the chapters is logical and it is easy to follow through.

One of the hardest concepts to grasp is that of Sections, Categories, and Articles, but the author leads you through this in an easy ‘building knowledge as you go’ style which results in you ultimately gaining a full understanding of all the constituent parts and how thay fit together.

The example sites for a school, restaurant and blog site make for really useful case studies.

The interviews with existing owners of a variety of sites explaining why they chose Joomla!, what they like about it, what extra add-ons they are using, and relating their user experiences are also really useful.

There are also a couple of sections on that oh so vital black-art of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), and it’s great to get the heads-up on all these important tips & tricks before creating your website. It’ll be so much simpler to get it right first time, and there’s no point in building a site that nobody can find!

I am entirely confident that a few hours reading this book will pay back many-fold when it comes to actually developing my site.

I would recommend that anybody embarking on a Joomla! site build buys this book and reads it first.

Customer Review: Lustmord…
Two groundbreaking bands merge to create this excellent DVD. Amazing video, even more amazing remix by legendary Lustmord. 5+
Customer Review: Fantastic!!!
TOOL videos are just unbelievable. They look so beautiful the attention to detail is mind blowing! If you’re a TOOL fan you’ll know that already. The only time I saw the Schism video before was at a TOOL gig a few years back. This DVD is well worth the money, the remix is fantastic. It’s not a cut and paste, with bits thrown in job like most “remixes” this is completely different. It’s long!! I’ve yet to check out the commentary but I doubt it’s “boring”. If you liked Salival you’ll love this.

Customer Review: Very dissapointed beader
I ordered this book believing that I was really going to learn new ways or get fresh ideas for jewelry, but I was very dissapointed to find out I was not. Some of the projects looked very interesting, but the instructions lack clear explanation and some of the pictures were confusing. It seem to be the photo of the same step of the project. Not recommend, unless you have a good experience with many techniques. I consider myself to be a experience/diverse jewelry maker, and this book certanly won’t explain or shown me new Ideas.

The Lean Six Sigma Pocket Toolbook: A Quick Reference Guide to 70 Tools for Improving Quality and Speed
Customer Review: Nearly 100 Tools For Improving
A really nice compact book with an open and easy style for quick reference on the key tools that help with Lean Six Sigma problem solving.

Lots of pictures and diagrams supporting explainations.

I would be happy recommend this to add to a belt’s library as tool reference book in support training in a deployment.

Customer Review: Superb Toolbook for Reference!!
It is a great guide for Six Sigma, I bought it because I took quite a lot of lectures on different Six Sigma topics at University, but now that I’m working I needed to refresh my mind and this book has proven to be very handy in terms of reference. Now, half of my time is destined to Six Sigma Projects and this toolbook has helped me to keep the Six Sigma Structure when doing a project, as well as referring to different statistical tools which I might have forgotten. I would highly recommend this book if you have already a background knowledge of Six Sigma, but if you are just starting with this methodology I would advice to look for more in-deep books.
