Vicarious [DVD]
Customer Review: migth not be too intereting for non fans
This video differs from earlier ones in a way that you have to be a tool fan to realy sit throughout the whole 8 min. I wasn’t a big tool fan, but after seeing ‘Schism’ video my life has never been the same if you know what I mean. It was so artistic and raw it appealed to everyone. ‘Vicarious’ on the contrary didn’t have this effect on me. On the other hand i praise the work put into making of ‘Vicarious’ ( i advise you to watch documentary first, you’ll see video in a different perspective). But to cut my story short - i did not like the graphics. And i don’t mind at all that i have no idea what video is all about.
Customer Review: Worth Owning
The music on this dvd is great, another wondering, and joyfully heavy tune from Tool. Shamefully, the CGI video does NOT stand up to the quality of the music. While earlier videos appear to of been created over a long period, taking every part of the songs ups and downs into account, this new video seems by comparison, a total mis-mash. Even the people who are on the commentary do not appear to know whats going on in the video. Meanwhile the creators of the older Tool videos appear, but seem apathetic about the new video. Where as the CG guys seem overly joyous. You cant help but think the whole thing would of looked better if created ANY other way but on a computer. Buy it at low expense, enjoy the music, and rue the video.

Salter 1004 Electronic Kitchen Scale

May 26th, 2008

Salter 1004 Electronic Kitchen Scale
Salter - Electronic Kitchen Weighing Scales - Hygenic Stainless Steel Platform, resistant to staining and flavour carry-over, automatically adjusts for use with most bowls or containers - max 5kg/11lb ? 5g/?oz. - up to 2kg/5lb ? 2g/?oz. 10 year guarantee

Customer Review: Not what I would expect from Salter
I purchased these scales because of the Salter brand - first mistake! The first scales weighed 2-3 times actual weight (fairly random). The replacement weighed a 250 gram block of butter as 1.787kg! Probably a defective batch from the Chinese supplier. I’m going to buy another brand.

Customer Review: Total failure!
We bought this machine for use in our kitchen - when we opened the package there was a piece of paper inside told us that it might not work where microwaves, radio waves, mobile phones or similar radio equipement might be present - what kitchen does not have one or many of these in it. Anyway we turned it on and tested it on a 1kg (1000g) bag of flour. It told us it weighed in excess of 3000g (3k). Also we noticed it started weighing at 3g. So we sent it back from where it came.

Customer Review: Lustmord…
Two groundbreaking bands merge to create this excellent DVD. Amazing video, even more amazing remix by legendary Lustmord. 5+
Customer Review: Fantastic!!!
TOOL videos are just unbelievable. They look so beautiful the attention to detail is mind blowing! If you’re a TOOL fan you’ll know that already. The only time I saw the Schism video before was at a TOOL gig a few years back. This DVD is well worth the money, the remix is fantastic. It’s not a cut and paste, with bits thrown in job like most “remixes” this is completely different. It’s long!! I’ve yet to check out the commentary but I doubt it’s “boring”. If you liked Salival you’ll love this.

Customer Review: Very Interesting
Dale Chihuly’s decades of exploring the relationship of glass and nature reach a zenith in 2002 at Chicago’s historic Garfield Park Conservatory. But when did it truly begin? In Finland in 1995, or at Sleeping Lady in 1996? Or earlier, when Dale Chihuly was just a young boy in his mother’s garden? The seeds for Chihuly in the Park: A Garden of Glass were sown in half dozen different nations, and this DVD explores the creative process that ultimately led to this extraordinary installation of glass in one of America’s largest and oldest glasshouses. Follow behind the scenes as Chihuly and his team create and install glass sculptures among the plants at the revitalized urban conservatory. Ultimately, over 600,000 people visit what may be the perfect setting to experience Chihuly’s organic work. Chapter 1: Chihuly at work Chapter 2: Garfield Park Conservatory Chapter 3: Crystal Palace Chapter 4: Finland, 1995 Chapter 5: Sleeping Lady, 1996 Chapter 6: Back in Chicago Chapter 7: In the glass shop, 2002 Chapter 8: Gardens and Glass Special Features Chihuly Gardens & Glass Trailer, an introduction to the film; Potatoes & Bamboo, a thirty-minute expansion of the 2002 Pino Signoretto blow; Postcard Collection, a closer look at Chihuly’s personal collection of vintage hand-colored glasshouse postcards; and Tour the Exhibition, a focus on the installations of Chihuly in the Park: A Garden of Glass. DVD Length: 60 minutes, with an additional 30 minutes of special features.
Customer Review: Chihuly in Garfield Park
If you are like me, and wish that Chihuly’s exhibit never would have left Garfield Park, this is a wonderful way to keep a piece of that experience with you. That exhibit was sheer genius!

“Rubbermaid “”Tough Tools”" 160mm long nose pliers with cutter, for engineering, automotive, building site and DIY, EACH”
Part of a comprehensive range of tools for your business solutions

Hot Textiles: Inspiration and Techniques with Heat Tools
Customer Review: A welcome addition to any textile artist’s bookshelf.
This is a comprehensive guide to using heat to alter your textile creations. The first section deals with tools and their safe use (essential in this context!) and the rest of the book suggests wonderful projects using all kinds of material, including a lot of recycled ones. The illustrations are an inspiration in themselves, and Kim’s style is delightfully conversational as well as clear. Well worth it’s cost.

3D Home Designer Deluxe - Gift Pack (PC)
Customer Review: An absolutely brilliant software package on Home Design!
I have dealt with a number of software packages programmed for home design purposes and this is by far the best I’ve come across. There are still some objects that could be added in a future version but the main features of walls, wall colours, ground colours, furniture variety, kitchen sets as well as bathroom sets are there. 3D Home Designer Deluxe is such a good software package on house architecture design, that the only improvement I could suggest would be to include an e.g. Xbox, Playstation, Nintendo Wii, etc. in the list of items to select to put in the living room or bedroom:-) Other than that, I am ecstatic to be working and designing houses with such a powerful tool. I highly recommend it!
Customer Review: Good value and repays investment of time
This is GSP’s offering of the 2000 version of professional software sold by Arcon. I found it to work very well and over a weekend developed several really good 3D views of the interior conversion I’m planning from sketched ground plans. It is easy to flick between “construction” mode where you put in the walls and fixtures and “design” mode where you add fittings and furniture and look at 3D or plan views. The professional software heritage shows in really pretty sophisticated (and complicated) elements like roof-design. But the bargain price also shows in that some features described in the detailed pdf manual don’t seem to be there (eg skylights). There are also a few important bugs like some icons not working and it is essential to visit GSP’s website to fix these - mainly around compatibility with Windows XP. The fact it took me a few hours to work this out precludes 5 stars. Otherwise fantastic value at this price.

With few exceptions-such as corn and pumpkins-everything edible that’s grown in a traditional garden can be raised in a container. And with only one exception-watering-container gardening is a whole lot easier. Beginning with the down-to-earth basics of soil, sun and water, fertilizer, seeds and propagation, The Bountiful Container is an extraordinarily complete, plant-by-plant guide.

Written by two seasoned container gardeners and writers, The Bountiful Container covers Vegetables-not just tomatoes (17 varieties) and peppers (19 varieties), butharicots verts, fava beans, Thumbelina carrots, Chioggia beets, and sugarsnap peas. Herbs, from basil to thyme, and including bay leaves, fennel, and saffron crocus. Edible Flowers, such as begonias, calendula, pansies, violets, and roses. And perhaps most surprising, Fruits, including apples, peaches, Meyer lemons, blueberries, currants, and figs-yes, even in the colder parts of the country. (Another benefit of container gardening: You can bring the less hardy perennials in over the winter.) There are theme gardens (an Italian cook’s garden, a Four Seasons garden), lists of sources, and dozens of sidebars on everything from how to be a human honeybee to seeds that are All America Selections.

Customer Review: LOVE this book!!!!
I have been a gardener for years and am going to go retire into a condo and now I can have a garden too! These ladies love what they do and are so detail oriented you would have to be very challenged to not understand them perfectly. GREAT information and presented from the ground up…pun intended. I will only need this book and The Big Book of Herbs to have all I need to eat the fruits, herbs, vegetables, and flowers of my labors. I bought one for my daughter who lives in a townhouse and she is getting pots etc already. Ms McGee and Ms Stuckey are very creative and give all sorts of thoughtful tips and imaginative ideas to have small gardens in tiny places…how about growing new potatoes in a 20 Gal garbage can? No pesticides and you grow what you like to eat in quantities that suit your needs. SMASHING idea this book and VERY WELL DONE! Thank You Ladies!
Customer Review: Very informative and well organized
I really enjoyed this book. I like how it’s organized so that if you decide you want to plant tomatoes, you can go to the section on tomatoes. They go over containers, soil, everything you need to know. This is just what I was looking for. Can’t wait to get started.

Customer Review: Every gardner should read this
The health aspects of organic gardnening cannot be overstated. The petroleum-based fertilizers and toxic pesticides, genetic alterations, etc. of current farming techniques are causing many health problems and will increasingly do so. This book, and other books like it, reveal truly healthy and environmentally safe techniques to grow untainted food that is truly nutitious. Your local supermarket does not sell food, it sells commerical products. Food depleted of its nutrients cannot be “enriched”; what was healthy is now “dead” food. Much in the same way most of us have been duped into buying “health plans”. Such should be more appropriately called “sickness plans”. Health plans do nothing to keep you healthy. Not one penny of your payment goes to increasing your health and boosting your immune system. But rather you pay them to expose you to what can be deadly immunizations and in fact they are much more harmful than beneficial. Germs are not your enemy. The suppression of your immune system is. It is what you do to your own body and immune system. What you willing (and sometimes unwillingly) expose yourself to is what makes a person sick. Your body is completely capable of healing itself when you provide it with the proper nutients found in natural herbs, fruits, and vegetables grown free of man-made chemicals and toxins. The answers are out there but the medical establishment wants to keep them from you. It makes big pharma billions every year. For example if most of you knew that there are at least 10 (ten) cures for cancer what would we do with all those who overnight would become unemployed? Yes, there are commercial entities that want control over your life in every way, whether you realize it or not. Take control of your life or let the government be your guardian. Which one of these options is best for you?
Customer Review: found to be useful
this book was well organized in its presentation of problems for each type of plant covered. set in A-Z format of common plant names (though Latin names are used as well), the editors (Barbara Ellis, and Fern Bradley)give several ways to combat garden issues from an organic methodology. most of the ways of working with organics that they outline are not high cost, but are high maintainence as is all organic gardening, if done right. the book also covers some common insects a gardener would see and if they are beneficial or not and how to work with the beneficials (what to plant to attract, etc) and to control the “bad bugs”. they also outline some diseases and how to fight those with organic methods. then they touch on other ways to fight garden pests (cultural, physical, and biological contols). they also talk about different organic dusts and sprays and how to use them effectively.

Registry Mechanic 6 (PC)
Customer Review: PCTools & 64-bit
I have to agree with the previous reviewer regarding PCTools sneaky way of automatically deducting the money from your account each year. I got caught out by this and I did not even sign up for automatic renewal. They do, however, cancel the auto subscription and refund your money if you ask them to.

Also be aware that althougth the product states it works on Windows Vista, it only provides basic support on Vista. Oh, and do not buy if you have a 64-bit OS; this company seems to be very reluctant and slow about making their products 64-bit compatible.

I would choose a different product if I were you.

Customer Review: Beware of this company.
Beware of this company.

If you download and install their software, once you pay you have to register and manually prevent them from automatically debiting your account at each renewal (yes, that means they don’t need your permission to take your money)

Customer Review: Schmoov! come on then!
Schmoov! Are the cheeky Nottingham based trio who have some serious sax appeal. The deep house entrepreneurs championed by Groove Armada have the kind of sound that causes involuntary movement of limbs. Decidedly funky and effortlessly cool this is a debut album suited to both pre and post club sessions, put it on and watch as your friends begin to tap and nod uncontrollably. In fact tracks like Duckshot and Destination will have all those but the hard of hearing and the unconscious, ‘bumping’ good and proper. What u do 2 me is a welcome slice of soulful disco and all the rest in between is consistently great save the swishy Headache inducing chords of Rayday. All in all this is a very hard album to dislike, there’s a warm vibe that radiates through the snappy hooks and mellow grooves; the curious and often surreal interludes are frequent and will tease a grin of bemusement from even the most stony faced listener. It can be tricky to get in the shops… HMV struggled to order it for over a month but Amazon should be able to sort you out with a fix of crunchy bass and synthesiser in a week or so. Sorted, respect due.
Customer Review: One of this year’s most impressive dance debut album.
First heard of this band through a friend. They are supporting Groove Armada on their current tour and to be honest they are right up there with them! This album is the sort of thing you would put on post club while discussing who was going out on a food run! It is a chilled out mix of tunes without being wussy. Excellent - they will be massive!

I also found out about this CD on the Somersault review and was also lucky enough to learn about Above & Beyond too (awesome!) so thanks Nick for forcing me to seek out other music :-) DIY is just as another reviewer said - a journey. Enjoy the ride.

I agree 100% with the guy who also (like me) stumbled across this title in the Chicane Somersault review. It’s fantastic and the only shame is that this guy hasn’t done more !

At raves and road protests, Britain’s youth forge a new kind of politics. Collective youth up trees or down tunnels, protest camps and all-night raves across the land - these are the spectacular features of the politics and culture of nineties youth in Britain. DiY Culture lays to rest the myth of “Thatcher’s Children,” for the flags are flying again — green, red and black. Editor George McKay, author of Senseless Acts of Beauty, claims that popular protest today is characterized by a culture of immediacy and direct action. Gathered together here for the first time is a collection of in-depth and reflective pieces by activists and other key figures in DiY culture, telling their own stories and histories. This, then, is a book of both celebration and self-criticism, written by realists and idealists alike. From the environmentalist to the video activist, the raver to the road protester, the neo-pagan to the anarcho-capitalist, the authors demonstrate how the counterculture of the nineties offers a vibrant, provocative and positive alternative to institutionalized unemployment and the restricted freedoms and legislated pleasures of UK plc.

Customer Review: A theorist’s look at Party and Protest
Party and protest is a comprehensive study of of two distinct subcultures: DiY Protest and Rave (party) cultures. Having a strong theoretical background in subculture theory (esp. the Birmingham school) I felt that this book has certain elements to offer the curious British subcultures student, but that the insider perspective causes some problems for the accountability of the essays. One would almost get the idea that McKay, while forming this anthology, was conscious of the relationship he has as a member of the academy versus the exclusive British subcultures. I would recommend this text as a study of DiY groups but one must keep in mind that the essays all seem to come from a nastalgic last-chance attempt at holding on to the “good old days”.
Customer Review: Mostly interesting examination of new protest cultures
The face of protest is changing rapidly. What North Americans tasted in Seattle (Nov 1999) has been going on in Britain for a solid decade. The new protest movement is a fusion of environmentalism and anarchist theory, with a dose of art and drugs in the mix. These forces have come together in the aftermath of the Cold War, as Thatherite and Reaganite politics are eaten by the maggots of history. Now that we can dispense with the Red Scare crap, a new left movement is targetting greedy corporations, gluttonous consumerism, and ecocidal social practices. This book gives a good introduction to those protests in Britain, even as they are spilling into North America. Recommended for academics, punks, anarchists, and politically engaged people of all stripes and spots.
