Customer Review: Fault Codes
This book covers basic Car engine ECU fault finding and is a rewrite of the earlier car diagnostics book from Haynes very little information on each manufacture about 5 pages but covers 32 different manufacture. Some basic information on testing sensor but not very much information on computer basic OBD interfaces which most DIY`s use. There are better book than this on On Board Diagnostic systems and this is a very poor effort.

Customer Review: doesn’t do much - and takes a long time about it!
back in the old macOS 9 days, micromat made a couple of good disc utilities. since the advent of OSX hower, they’ve really lost the ball and techtool pro is a classic example. first off, let’s get one thing clear; this “disc repair” utility doesn’t actually “repair” anything much. think i’m kidding? - well i’m not. techtool pro will spend hours [literally!] scanning your disc and e-v-e-n-t-u-a-l-l-y present you with a report telling you what’s wrong but it doesn’t actually fix anything beyond the odd missing ‘custom icon’ or incorrect bundle bit. if your mac’s really playing up [crashing frequently, files disappearing etc], the chances are your disc’s got directory damage - and techtool pro can’t help you there. you’ll need to use something like discwarrior by alsoft [also available on amazon] to repair the disc. so what exactly does techtool pro offer that the free [bundled with the system] disc utility doesn’t? well apart from being able to impotently tell you your disc needs repaired [at about a tenth of the speed of disc utility] not a hell of a lot. oh yes, there are a whole bank of tests lined up in it’s revolting 70’s sci-fi styled interface, but do you really need to waste good money on a utility to tell you such things as whether your internet connection is working, whether your sound port is working, how fast your processor is and whether your RAM works or not? techtool pro does also offer a ‘disc optimising’ routine which defragments your hard drive. anyone who used to curse the norton utilities defragging routine under classic, when it used to take an hour or so to optimise a 20GB or so drive will be pining for those days once they set techtool pro’s ’slug-on-mogadon’ optimising routine going. i’ve left it overnight on occasion and crawled bleary-eyed from my pit in the morning to find it still barely halfway done. this is one seriously s-l-o-w piece of software [in all of its functions]. there can be few more dispiriting sights than gazing forlornly upon techtool pro’s apparently stationary progress bar when it’s about a third full and watching the text below which says “step 345254 of 6312950″ slowly incrementing at the rate of about one every second. this is a terrible piece of software [if you don't trust my opinion, check out the reviews on versiontracker or macupdate] - avoid it like the plague!
Customer Review: BUY IT NOW!!
This is something you should buy now, rather than when you have a problem! Together with Disk Warrior, Tech Tool Pro offers a complete solution to pretty much any problem you will have, barring a electronic fault (it can even warn you if a hard drive is failing & where. Excellent software - that works even better if you have it installed on a separate emergency boot up drive (you would be advised to do this if you want disk optimisation) These days you can get a fast Hard drive pretty cheap & then install OS X + Tech Tool Pro & Disk Warrior and have the best emergency disk you could ask for, and not break the bank.

Customer Review: great garden guide
I bought this book for my husband who wanted some advice on basic DIY skills in the garden, like fencing and path-laying etc. This book, like others in the series, is well-written, easy to follow and clearly illustrated. It is an absolutely ideal book for anyone starting out in laying out or tidying up the garden. It gives sensible advice and produces professional results without being in the least bit patronising, at the same time it doesn't waste time showing unrealistic projects that the average gardener would be hard pressed to fit into anything smaller than a public gardens. A really good book, essential starter, but still not too basic for more advanced skills.

Customer Review: migth not be too intereting for non fans
This video differs from earlier ones in a way that you have to be a tool fan to realy sit throughout the whole 8 min. I wasn’t a big tool fan, but after seeing ‘Schism’ video my life has never been the same if you know what I mean. It was so artistic and raw it appealed to everyone. ‘Vicarious’ on the contrary didn’t have this effect on me. On the other hand i praise the work put into making of ‘Vicarious’ ( i advise you to watch documentary first, you’ll see video in a different perspective). But to cut my story short - i did not like the graphics. And i don’t mind at all that i have no idea what video is all about.
Customer Review: Worth Owning
The music on this dvd is great, another wondering, and joyfully heavy tune from Tool. Shamefully, the CGI video does NOT stand up to the quality of the music. While earlier videos appear to of been created over a long period, taking every part of the songs ups and downs into account, this new video seems by comparison, a total mis-mash. Even the people who are on the commentary do not appear to know whats going on in the video. Meanwhile the creators of the older Tool videos appear, but seem apathetic about the new video. Where as the CG guys seem overly joyous. You cant help but think the whole thing would of looked better if created ANY other way but on a computer. Buy it at low expense, enjoy the music, and rue the video.

Dremel Rotary Tool 300 Series + 25 acces

June 25th, 2008

Dremel Rotary Tool 300 Series + 25 acces
Customer Review: Dremel 300
Anyone reading the other review might get the impression that the Dremel 300 is supplied with a chuck and not collets. This is not the case. I can only assume having just bought one that the chuck has to be purchased separately.

Customer Review: The Dremel Solution to Small-Medium Sized Projects
I recently purchased the Dremel 300 + 25 Accessories kit to replace my ageing Dremel Multi 770 cordless drill, which was now lacking in power and stamina, and did not have the threadded interface required to accept accessories such as the #670 Mini-Saw attachment.

Dremel really do think of everything, and supply an amazing array of accessories and fittings to go with their drills. I purchased their Mini-Saw attachment primarily to solve a DIY problem involving cutting an acrylic bath panel, and have found this accessory to work very well. My only niggle with it, is the strange handling position you need to adopt (if you’re right-handed!), pulling the saw towards you, rather than the more traditional pushing action. But this is a minor problem, and the saw performs well, giving a very clean cut in most woods and plastics.

But back to the 300-series-an excellent tool, supported by a huge array of accessories. I’m also glad to see they’ve now introduced a conventional chuck (#4486), which is easier than having to choose between 4 different sized collets. The 300 comes in a convienient plastic storage box, with allocated spaces for the most popular accessories, and a cubby-hole with a hinged lid for any other bits and pieces-although this could have been larger to accommodate some of the bulkier attachments such as the saw!

Dremel tools are excellent for those smaller jobs where a full-sized power tool would be just too big and clumsy, and while they may not be as powerful as their larger cousins, they more than make up for this with their high operating speed. I also like the no-nonsense numbering system for their accessories-you see the bit you need in the catalogue or online, note down the number, and go out and buy it-simple as that!

Customer Review: Attractive and instructive
An excellent introduction and reference book for growing salad plants. The usual supects are covered as well as some rather more obscure ones. Creatively illustrated with marvelous photography, Larkcom firstly arranges chapters of salad plants such as stems and stalks, fruiting vegetables etc., as you would expect, but also flowers, herbs and wild plants. She then turns her attention to cultivation and finally ends with a few recipes. Anyone interested in starting a small kitchen garden, allotment or potager will find this invaluable and desperately inspiring. Joy Larkcom has been growing food since the seventies and her knowlege and clear style are inspiring.

I bought this book about a week ago and its fantastic, lots of lovely pictures and information to boot, brilliant!!
Customer Review: Excellent if you are a beginner or first time home buyer
I purchased my first home a year ago, and had little idea about plants for inside or outside the home. This book could not have been more helpful and I now have a better idea of how I will plant my garden next spring! I love the differnt sections, and now have a better idea of how to care for my plant purchases, as well as shade/sunlight placement. A great present for first time home buyers or gardening enthusiasts.

Insomniac Games has overhauled its proprietary PS3 engine technology to create the most visceral Ratchet & Clank universe yet, overflowing with exotic creatures and flying vehicles.

The PS3 system’s superior power enables Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction to bring vivid worlds to life with increased draw distances, enhanced lighting and shadowing, and more fluid and exaggerated animations.

Discover an all-new galaxy spanning vast worlds such as a majestic cloud city and a space-age amusement park.

Encounter an entirely new cast of expressive characters (and some old favorites) as well as the introduction of a variety of new alien races and life forms.

Experience a more emotive Ratchet with nearly as many animation joints in his face as PS2 Ratchet had in his entire body. This joint density applies to many of the characters featured in Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction, enabling more detailed, personable and expressive characters.

Clank returns as a playable character, and Ratchet will have new enhanced abilities.

Fire a fully stocked arsenal of all-new weapons such as the Plasma Beasts and Tornado Launcher, which uses the Sixaxis controller to direct tornadoes that suck up enemies and whip them around with debris.

Use the Sixaxis controller to maneuver, destroy enemies and solve puzzles.

Upgrade and customize weapons with a new system that provides greater power and flexibility. Players also will have the ability to upgrade Ratchet’s armor.

Utilise Ratchet’s new supply of consumable “on-demand’ combat devices, such as the Groovitron, which causes enemies to dance uncontrollably to ’70s disco hits.

Gadgets gameplay returns as Ratchet and Clank will have more gadgets at their disposal to help them bounce, fly, evade and defy gravity.

Pilot Ratchet’s ship through asteroid fields while trying to destroy enemy fleets in a complete redesign of classic Ratchet & Clank space combat gameplay.
Customer Review: Bring on the next one!!
Another fantastic Ratchet and Clank game, I loved it. It doesn’t take itself too seriously and this is reflected in how much fun you have in this game. The use of the six axis controller is quite good, the graphics are fantastic and flawless the game is varied enough to keep you going to the very end. Great game…. now where is the the next one??
Customer Review: Fantastic, PS3 owners should play this.
Tools Of Destruction is the latest offering of a series started out on PS2, with Ratchet, a brash Lombax and Clank, a wise robot. Whilst it may appear ‘kiddy’, like Legend Of Zelda it has appeal for all ages. It begins in the series signiture setting of Metropolis where it is under attack by “Killer Robotic Commandos” and things set off from there. The controls are smooth and easy to get used to, with a hotkey selection system for weapons, gadgets and combat devices. Combat devices can give you an edge in battle, most noteworthy is the Groovitron that forces enemies to dance whilst you blow them to bits (Every enemy has a different dance, and is worth watching!). Other combat devices exist, but onto the weapons, the portfolio is diverse and it’ll take a while to fully upgrade them; some include a Tornado Launcher which is guided by the PS3 motion controls and an electric whip, fun for the whole family! The platforming gradually lowered in each installment on PS2, but thankfully it’s back in style and fun. It’s easy to see what you have to do and how to time things so it is not an exercise in frustration. The puzzles are good too and not too difficult, they use the motion controls here too to provide interesting gameplay. The game length itself isn’t too big if you want to simply blaze through, it’ll take you several full days to do so, but as if many other games by Insomniac the full fun comes in unlocking all the Skill Points and Challenge Mode. They give you various extras such as concept art, extra costumes, and even an extensive developer commentary by member of Insomniac Games, which is interesting. There is even parts of a weapon that are scattred across the levels, collect them all to get the ultimate weapon in the game. In short this game is great fun, and will last you ages. Great for kids and adults alike, especially if you are gonna start out your PS3 collection. Highly recommended.

PBK Pro Tool kit 30 pieces

Customer Review: Good introduction
A good introduction and covers the basic concepts very well with good examples and enough to get you started. Did my first mind map the same day and I'm hooked. 4 stars as you will be asking questions this book won't answer.
Customer Review: QUICK AND EASY
This is one of those books where you already know all the information, but it’s useful to have it all in one place, in a coherent order (sorta!!). The mind map technique is great for when you need a structure to help make a difficult decision, or prepare for something nerve racking, although the book advocates its use for virtually everything of course. The unremitting very ‘American’ style (”this is the answer to all your problems etc.”) has to be ignored, but it’s well worth the purchase. It’s easy to read, plus you can probably read the thing in one or two hours. I regard both these things as a bonus in books of this type.

Groove Orchard [12" VINYL]

Yeah, I Made It Myself: DIY Fashion for the Not Very Domestic Goddess
Customer Review: Dull and uninspiring
I couldn’t warm to this book for a number of reasons. Mainly because there is no real information contained within the book. There is a lot of writing and narrative by the author, but there just doesn’t seem to be any real substance. I was looking for a more technical book but this is very basic and the ideas just don’t appeal to me. Also, the lack of photographs is a real shame, maybe if there had been a visual representation of what the author was explaining then I would have found this book more useful. I was hoping for something fresh and creative but this seemed a little ‘dumbed down’ and is probably best suited to a young audience.
Customer Review: Great fun!
After entering the foray of the sewing world a few years ago by thowing myself into a load of far too complex patterns I gave up. Some of the things I made were at best a good effort and at worst horrific garments that I wouldn’t put my dog in! My efforts were eventually relegated to my numerous sewing boxs alongside a pile of lovely fabrics I’d had so much hope for and stuffed away at the back of the spare room. After reading the reviews I thought this would be a perfect way back in and I was right. Her book has some lovely inspirational ideas, and are explained so simply it makes you believe you can do anything it shows you how to do. It’s very well laid out, very pretty to look at and made me chuckle throughout. After reading it I was itching to have a go at something so this weekend, I dug everything out and made a beautiful (if I do say so myself) bag. It’s so lovely, I decided to do something I’ve thought about doing for ages - make a dress freehand, without a pattern or anything. The end result is, well on the slightly shapelss side and won’t be seen on catwalks any time soon but the whole process reminded me what sewings about. Having fun, and not being too worried about making mistakes which are themes througout the book. If you’re looking for somewhere to start, or have been a little disappointed with previous projects I highly recommend this little gem.

The DIY and Home Improvements Industry: Market Review 2002
Key Note bases its figures for total DIY expenditure on data from Consumer Trends from the Office of National Statistics, which is based on a large-scale survey of the UK population. Consumer Trends altered its classification system from 2001 and in 2002, it offers data on materials for maintenance and repair of the dwelling, small tools and miscellaneous accessories, and major tools and accessories. Expenditure on DIY continued to show strong growth in 2001, with an increase of 8%, to ?9.28bn at retail selling prices (rsp). Price rises remained low between 1997 and 2001 and most of the market growth was due to volume increases. Prices are subject to pressure from the competition between the DIY superstore chains, from the growth of own-label products and from low-cost imports, although the situation varies between sectors. This report covers the industry.

Diy Portfolio Management: Do It Yourself! With a Little Independent Work, You Too Can Beat the Returns of Indexes and Mutual Fund Managers
Description: DIY Portfolio Management describes the advantages of doing your own portfolio management, and gives you suggestions for matching and for beating the market. Individuals who manage their own portfolios have less overhead and the financial incentive to get market beating performance. That is not enough, knowledge and confidence are also important. The individual Do-It-Yourselfer needs a knowledge based plan for success, and the book DIY Portfolio Management can feed that plan. The just released DIY Portfolio Management explores approaches to beating the market. Some ideas presented are refined, but this is not rocket science, and unlike brain surgery this is something you can do for yourself. DIY Portfolio Management stresses that successfully management of a stock portfolio requires strategy, discipline, and time to work. This is a book about managing your nest egg, where discipline and intellect are complementary ingredients. The individual Do-It-Yourselfer needs confidence in their plan for success, and the processes DIY Portfolio Management recommends facilitates building that confidence. Publisher’s comments : The mission of Selact Publishing is to inform people about money, to make them less apprehensive about tackling financial issues. DIY Portfolio Management can do just that for the stock investment part of your financial life. The book is timely now with large numbers of people approaching retirement age with less wealth than they expected. Lyle Wilkinson s text can help prepare people for taking more responsibility for, and control of, their financial future. The text is appropriate for those wanting to grow their wealth and control risk by sticking with a system that works, more than to those looking to get really rich, really fast, with little or no work. Author comments : DIY Portfolio Management grew out of the notes I made while back-testing, paper-trading, and trading different systems. My trading/investing education has probably cost more than my BBA and MBA combined, but it doesn t have to be that way for you. Read more and invested less in the early years, and you can reduce the cost of your education. My goal in making DIY Portfolio Management available is to help readers invest more efficiently and reduce losses.

Customer Review: Better Investment Results
I heartily share the author’s premise that an individual can produce better investment returns than a hired hand. No one takes your money more seriously than yourself. But it takes a focused and disciplined approach to produce excellent results. An investor’s biggest enemy is his own emotional involvement. The DIY Portfolio Management system helps to keep the emotional reactions out of the way and create a disciplined long-term focus to investment decisions. This guidebook gives a step-by-step methodology for producing better returns. It requires some work, but so does every successful system. There is no free lunch. I highly recommend this book
Customer Review: If You’e Okay With Standard Deviations, Get This Book
I worked as a licensed rep at Vanguard Mutual Funds for a while, talking to clients about their investments. The vast majority of the clients were lovely people, the kind you could happily spend a few hours with at a party. Unfortunately, that vast majority, pleasant though they were, didn’t know much about investing. They were looking forward to financially stress-free retirements based pretty much on the luck of the draw. Often the ones in the worse shape were the ones following investment advice from an “expert.” The best part of my job was quickly explaining some tips and strategies to help them understand and succeed. I don’t know Mr. Wilkinson, but he’s a man after my own heart. He, too, wants to help people succeed at investing. His book DIY Portfolio Management is chock-a-block full of good stuff. Using the information Mr. Wilkinson provides should lead to more than satisfying results. However, Mr. Wilkinson does not always speak in nouns and verbs, but launches into mathematical formulae at the drop of the proverbial hat. This will be disconcerting if you’re a dedicated noun/verb person, but with a modicum of mathematical knowledge, you can step through the formulae with great benefit to your bottom line. If talk about such things as standard deviations and regressions causes your brain to freeze, though, this is not the book for you, excellent though its information may be. Ah, but if you speak in mathematical formulations with ease, get this book and march through its pages to investing comprehension. Knowing what you’re doing is the secret to just about anything, including, maybe especially, investing. Bette Dowdell, Author, How to be a Christian Without Being Annoying, The Christmas Invitation
